What we do

Independent and informed by science, our purpose is to return the bush to good health.

We buy and manage land for conservation and partner with Aboriginal groups and other landholders (such as farmers), to help them plan and achieve conservation goals on their land too.

We focus work in our priority landscapes – areas selected on the basis of national biodiversity priorities, location of existing reserves and opportunities for strategic partnerships.

Our impact

Today we work across 1.4 million hectares of land across our network of reserves and many millions of hectares through our partnerships. Together we protect threatened ecosystems and 7,735 species of plants and animals, including hundreds of threatened species (see our annual Impact Report for details).
